The Greene County baseball picked up one win out of three games last week.
On Monday, June 20, the Rams hosted PCM, falling 7-3. Brayden Roberts hit three singles and Bryce Stalder hit two in the game. Adding base hits were Joe Carey, Kole Teeples and Dakota Mobley. RBIs were credited to Teeples, Mobley and Noble Hoyt. The boys had 21 putouts with four errors on the field. Joe Carey and Kole Teeples shared pitching duty, throwing nine hits with seven walks, two hit batters and six strikeouts.
On Tuesday, the Rams traveled to Manson, winning 9-8. GC was up 5-1 in the third but MNW tied the game in the fifth with four runs. The Rams bounced back with three runs in the sixth, allowing the Cougars to tie the game in the seventh. Neither team scored in the eighth frame but the Rams manufactured a run in the ninth to take the win.
Stalder and Gabe Ebersole each hit a triple, with Crew Conner and Justin Stream hitting doubles. Stalder carried the big stick with five base hits along with the triple as GC pounded out 17 hits. Teeples was credited with four hits with two by Crew Conner. There were 28 putouts from the Rams, 11 from Roberts, who was in the catcher’s gear. On the mound were Stalder, Isaac Carman and Matthew Hovick. They threw for a combined 159 pitches with 12 hits, five walks, two hit batters and nine strikeouts.
Wednesday’s game brought another loss for the Rams, falling 7-3 to West Marshall on the opponent’s home field. Greene County led 3-0 after the first inning, but lost the lead in the second and was unable to come back. Stream and Ebersole collected two hits while singles went to Roberts, Teeples and Mobley. Stream and Teeples picked up RBIs.
The Rams will play in the first round of Class 2A district play at West Central Valley High against Panorama on Saturday. The winner meets Van Meter on Tuesday.
